Let’s go to our friend’s home to play tomorrow. What do you want to prepare?

准备水果、牛奶什么的就可以。
Zhǔn bèi shuǐ guǒ, niú nǎi shén me de jiù kě yǐ.
Preparing fruit, milk, and things like that is enough.
小雨
好，我再准备一本小小的书。
Hǎo, wǒ zài zhǔn bèi yì běn xiǎo xiǎo de shū.
Good. I will also prepare a small book.
小林
我们早点儿去，可以慢慢地看书。
Wǒ men zǎo diǎnr qù, kě yǐ màn màn de kàn shū.
If we go early, we can read slowly.
小雨
到了朋友家，我们慢慢地说话，也可以看书、喝水什么的。
Dào le péng you jiā, wǒ men màn màn de shuō huà, yě kě yǐ kàn shū, hē shuǐ shén me de.
After we arrive at our friend’s home, we can talk slowly and also read, drink water, and things like that.

Pattern: `小小 / 漂漂亮亮`

小小 / 漂漂亮亮

Reduplicating an adjective can sound more friendly and can make the degree feel clearer in daily descriptions.

我准备了一本小小的书。
Wǒ zhǔn bèi le yì běn xiǎo xiǎo de shū.
I prepared a small book.
她有一件漂漂亮亮的衣服。
Tā yǒu yí jiàn piào piào liang liang de yī fu.
She has a very pretty piece of clothing.

Pattern: `A、B 什么的`

A、B 什么的

After listing a few examples, add `什么的` to show there are other similar things not fully listed.

我想买水果、牛奶什么的。
Wǒ xiǎng mǎi shuǐ guǒ, niú nǎi shén me de.
I want to buy fruit, milk, and things like that.
我们可以看书、喝水什么的。
Wǒ men kě yǐ kàn shū, hē shuǐ shén me de.
We can read, drink water, and things like that.

Pattern: `状态/方式 + 地 + 动词`

状态/方式 + 地 + 动词

The part before `地` describes how the action is done; the action comes after it.

我们慢慢地看书。
Wǒ men màn màn de kàn shū.
We read slowly.
老师慢慢地说了一遍。
Lǎo shī màn màn de shuō le yí biàn.
The teacher slowly said it once.
