Lesson 10 · 这儿的苹果真便宜
Ask item prices, read basic RMB amounts, use adjectives to evaluate items, and ask opinions with `怎么样`.

Listen and Read
Start with price tags and practice only `多少钱` plus simple answers.
Core Words
First learn the most common shopping items, actions, and questions.
Core Words
Focus on `块 / 元` first. Other money units can wait.
Pattern: `商品 + 多少钱? / 数字 + 块、元`
`多少钱` comes after the item. Answer directly with the price.
Use `多少钱` to ask the price of something. In speech, `块` is common; in formal amounts, `元` is also used.
Learning Note
First learn to read simple prices with `块`.
At HSK1, focus on common whole-number prices such as `三块`, `十二块`, and `二十块`. Smaller money units can wait until later.
Quick Practice
Choose the correct price question.
Choose the most natural Chinese sentence.
Core Words
Use these words to say whether an item is good, expensive, or not expensive.
Pattern: `主语 + 很 / 真 / 不 + 形容词`
Chinese can use an adjective directly to describe the subject.
An adjective can directly describe the subject. At the beginning level, `很` is often used before the adjective; `真` adds emphasis; the negative uses `不`. Do not say `这个杯子是大`.
Quick Practice
Recognize the meaning of an adjective predicate sentence.
Choose the option with the closest meaning.
Pattern: `名词 / 商品 + 怎么样?`
Use `怎么样` when you want to know what someone thinks about something.
`怎么样` asks for another person’s opinion about a person, thing, or situation. Answers often use adjectives, such as `很好看`, `不贵`, or `很好吃`.
Listen and Read
Read price, evaluation, and `怎么样` together.
Quick Practice
Separate asking for price from asking for an opinion.
Choose an evaluative answer.
Learning Note
Use the two main lesson patterns with new items.
Repeat the two sentence groups below, then replace the item with book, cup, or apple and say it yourself.
Learning Note
Read price, evaluation, and `怎么样` together.
Finally, read three sentence types smoothly: asking price, giving an evaluation, and asking for an opinion. Listen first, then read once by yourself.
